About Sud de France Languedoc-Roussillon/South West Top 100
The Top 100 celebrates the best wines from the Languedoc and Roussillon vineyards, part of the Rhône Valley and the Southwest, with an expertly curated selection of the best of current winemaking. It assists the UK trade to find and source wines from producers of all styles from diverse terroirs.
There is plenty to discover, as 67% of the winning wines are new to the UK and do not have UK distribution yet. It spans prestige wines, sustainable and organic production, independent producers, private cellars, cooperatives, negociants and familiar big names.
Chairman of the judges Tim Atkin MW and 18 top writers and principal trade buyers blind-tasted and retasted 413 entries from 131 producers – a big increase on last year – in July in London. New for this year, they recognised many strong contenders for the top trophies and added a second tier of ‘wines of distinction’. There is a notable rise in wines of £20 and over, and a surge in winners from co-operatives. As the largest wine-producing region in the world, Occitanie constantly evolves.
In addition to the Sud de France Top 100 Discovery Show for trade (October 26, 2023), the Top 100 features at consumer shows such as The Chelsea Wines & Spirits Show and the Three Wine Men Big Christmas Wine Fest. Sampling further supports the wines as they become more widely available.
We look forward to meeting you at many future Sud de France events.
